About: Long fascinated by messages and doodles scrawled on bathroom walls and other public spaces, San Francisco graphic artist Someguy became a kind of 21st century Johnny Appleseed when in August 2000 he disseminated the first of 1000 blank journals. The empty white sheets more than fostered creativity, they forged a community that has grown into the thousands as the books pass from hand to hand, their pages filling with art, stories, personal musings, rantings, messages, memorabilia and all sorts of ephemera. Shortly after the project's first anniversary, 9/11 becomes a dominant theme, the pages reflecting the grief, distress and horror of that defining event.
